Bio:
Based in Vancouver, IHA (they/them) is a DJ, Producer, and manages the label and event series NAGA.
Inspired by nature and the turning of the seasons, IHA’s sound is elusive yet unmistakeable. Drawing from cultural memory, dreams, and shifts in perception, they bring a childlike play into the stage, whether live or on the dance floor.
Deploying lush and tastefully discreet sonic palettes, their productions and live sets range from atmospheric dub, clever and playful techno, to futuristic bass music. Since beginning their sonic journey in 2021, they have released singles on labels PPRZ, Weirdoes Inc, Wuji, and Bass Coast Music.
Venturing into sound spatialization and audiovisual collaborations in the past year, they scored the 2024 EDAA award-winning "GRWM", an original animation by Carmilla Sumantry; performed at Lobe's Mother Cloud Festival in 4DSOUND with Michael Red, and composed the audio for i+eo's 5760+1080, an audiovisual installation featured at New Forms Festival: Transform.
IHA’s forays has had them featured in festivals across the pond: Bass Coast, Wonderment, Active/Passive, and Pachena Bay (BC); Future Forest (NB), and ADE (AMS). In club nights, they have been placed in the same lineup as artists Rhyw, Om Unit, DJ Voices, and Atrice. As one half of audiovisual duo i+eo with ephemeral objects, they are one of ten emerging artists selected for Mutek Montreal's Incubator program in 2024.
