Bio:
Jeremy Ho is a conductor, violinist, and pianist known for his musical integrity, disciplined excellence, and passion for interpretive depth. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Violin Performance from the University of British Columbia, an ARCT Piano Diploma, and a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from McGill University. He began his musical career performing with the UBC Symphony Orchestra for six years, holding leadership roles as principal player and concertmaster under Jonathan Girard. As a soloist, Jeremy earned first prize in the Surrey Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, was a finalist in the UBC Concerto Competition, and received the Kiwanis Fraser Valley Music Festival’s Provincial Delegate Scholarship Award. He also participated in the VSO Institute and the UBC Chamber Orchestra Festival. Jeremy began formal conducting studies in 2021 with Jonathan Girard and Otto Tausk. He has served as substitute conductor for the Brock House Orchestra and led recording sessions with members of the UBC Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, he participated in the And Other Duties conducting program in Manchester, working with students from Chetham’s School of Music. During his Master’s at McGill University under Alexis Hauser, he conducted multiple ensembles, including the Beethoven Orchestra, the Conductor’s Concert Orchestra, and the Contemporary Orchestration and Research Ensemble, and served as assistant conductor for the McGill Symphony Orchestra, completing his degree in 2025. Jeremy’s summer festival experience includes dual roles as violinist and conductor at the Monteux School and Music Festival in 2024 and 2025, studying primarily with Tiffany Lu, with guest conducting under Ludovic Morlot and Jeffrey Meyer. He most recently attended the University of Oregon Conducting Institute, studying with Neil Varon, Jonathan Girard, and David Jacobs.
