Bio:
Ray Roper is a veteran of the West Coast music scene. Born in London England but immigrated to Vancouver Canada when he was just 6,, his musical influences were derived from the blues rock greats such as Clapton, Beck, and Blackmore, Then influences shifted to Yes, Genesis and JethroTull. It was the 70's and a great time for music. Stonebolt, Ray's first recording band, scored a record deal with Parachute/Casablanca spearheaded by Russ Regan and Neil Bogart and yielded a top 30 single entitled I Will Still Love You that Roper sang lead on. Upon Neil's death, Stonebolt signed with RCA and followed up with 3 more albums and a greatest hits package on the Vortex label. It was during these Stonebolt recordings that Ray realized his intense interest in the recording process, cutting his engineering teeth under the tutorship of longtime Engineer, Laurie Wallace. Upon honing his skills, he went on to teach audio courses at a Vancouver studio and started producing demos and records for other clients garnering quite a few credits along the way. It was a natural progression to start a solo band and play the local scene. The Ray Roper Band was born and ended up playing the colosseum opening for the Kinks. Fully established as a performer and a recordist, Ray hooked up with SB Mackigh Stanton to help finish a demo she had brought in, and the results were stunning so they have continued working together to this day, and have more than an album in the can. Recording, producing and performing are still the mainstays of Ray's professional endeavors and staying true to the music he's always held reverent.
